The first-ever Afrobeats to the World festival, which was Canada’s inaugural two-day Afrobeats event, wrapped up in Toronto last weekend, leaving an indelible mark on culture. The event went down on August 3rd and 4th, 2024, at LW Outdoor Ground, Toronto, brought together thousands of music lovers in celebration of African music, culture, and community.
The festival was crowned with breathtaking performances from a number of Afrobeats stars: Kizz Daniel, who brought in a rather energetic set, keeping the people dancing all through the night; MS DSF with dynamic mixes that add incomparable energy to blow fans off their feet;
BadBoy Timz, with a renewed energy and a sound to cement his spot as a rising star; and Viktoh, with a breathtaking performance; Mayorkun closed the event with a performance that had everybody on their feet, creating a magical atmosphere.
For two days straight, Afrobeats to the World was a magnet to people of very different audiences who united under one umbrella due to their love for Afrobeats. If anything, it showed how greatly African music is appreciated worldwide and how music holds the key to unifying people across cultures and backgrounds in joy.
This past weekend saw the success of the first Afrobeats to the World festival as it pulled record attendance, with thousands of fans turning up from across Canada and beyond to be part of that momentous occasion for Afrobeats in North America.
Looking ahead, given the overwhelming success of this year’s event, Afrobeats to the World remains laid out to be an annual celebration of Afrobeats music and culture here in Canada. The organizers are keen on building from that momentum and are already courting partnerships and sponsorships for the 2025 edition, which potentially promises to be even greater.
